About this Project
2011.4

News from Nowhere begins with contemplating the social function and role of art. Initially proposed by two artists, Moon Kyungwon & Jeon Joonho, the project aims to reflect upon the direction that contemporary art practices and society as a whole are taking, while also envisioning the future through collaborative projects with artists, designers, and architects. Furthermore, experts from other diverse fields education, economics, politics, culture, and religion will join this practical platform for an in-depth conversation that aims to examine art practices and suggest a better vision for the future.
There are going to be some big changes in the future, not now but not too far off. That is almost certainly a definite fact. “News from Nowhere” works on the assumption that major climate changes will endanger humanity’s survival. We are also going to shooting a movie about the subject. Through the two main characters, a man and a woman, the film asks questions about human beings who have to adapt to a new environment: will today’s social systems still be relevant in this future? What values will sustain our existence? Will art still be around? What will we eat and wear? Will sunsets still be beautiful? Our aim is neither envisioning a utopia or a dystopia. These questions about the future will, hopefully, lead to discourses and a series of thoughts surrounding life.

I. New Platform;
We are going to be asking notable scholars in a wide range of different fields questions about their vision of the future and today’s values. We will talk about recent trends in each field, discuss the meaning of art, and explore different interpretations of the future.

II. New EXPO;
Contemporary designers, architects, and engineers are coming up with their own ideas for the basic supplies to be used in the future, as well as their thoughts on what residential environments will look like. Through discussions like this, we will arrive at a perspective different from today’s aesthetic sense.

I. 뉴 플랫폼
