Screening in connection with MOON Kyungwon & JEON Joonho: Seoul Weather StationNEWS FROM NOWHERE: ECLIPSE2022. 11. 2 — 11. 62022. 11. 23 — 11. 27In conjunction with its exhibition MOON Kyungwon & JEON Joonho: Seoul Weather Station, Art Sonje Center presents NEWS FROM NOWHERE: ECLIPSE (2021–2022), a video work by the artists that was recently shown at the 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art, Kanazawa. The video will be running from November 2 to 6, and again from November 23 to 27.News from Nowhere: Eclipse depicts the human battle for survival amid a precarious day-to-day life on a lifeboat in a vast, empty sea. Seemingly the sole survivor in an apocalyptic environment, “A” drifts in a lifeboat over an endless ocean expanse as he searches for other survivors. While there is no way of knowing who created it or for what purpose, “A” believes himself to exist within this virtual environment that diminishes and deconstructs the human being. Consumed by a tragic, constrained world where his spirit and body are held in sway, “A” continues his unconscious struggle for freedom, yearning for liberation from the world that binds him.
《문경원 & 전준호: 서울 웨더 스테이션》 전시 연계 스크리닝 <미지에서 온 소식: 이클립스>2022. 11. 2 — 11. 62022. 11. 23 — 11. 27아트선재센터는 《문경원 & 전준호: 서울 웨더 스테이션》 전시와 연계하여 최근 일본 가나자와21세기미술관에서 선보인 영상 작업 <미지에서 온 소식: 이클립스>(2021-2022)를 11월 2일부터 6일, 23일부터 27일까지 두 차례에 걸쳐 상영합니다.<미지에서 온 소식: 이클립스>는 아무도 없는 망망대해에서 구조선에 의지한 채 하루하루 위태로운 삶을 이어가는 인물의 생존 투쟁을 그리고 있습니다. 종말적 환경에서 유일하게 살아남은 생존자인 A는 끝없이 펼쳐진 바다 위 구조선에 몸을 실은 채 다른 생존자를 찾습니다. 누구에 의해 그리고 어떤 목적에 의해 만들어졌는지 알 수 없지만, 인간을 축소하고 해체하는 가상의 환경에서 A는 자신이 실재한다고 믿습니다. 정신과 육체가 지배된 채 비극적이고 제한적인 세계에 매몰된 A는 자신을 구속하고 있는 이 세계에서 해방되기를 간절히 바라며 자유를 향한 무의식적 투쟁을 이어갑니다.
