To you, what is the meaning of the term ‘avant-garde’ at this point in history?
MOON Kyungwon & JEON Joonho_
The spirit of ‘avant-garde,’ for us will always be ongoing, or continuous. Progress, with an ‘-ing,’ that is. It is the attitude and spirit of verification that we must always be aware of, rather than regarding it as something that momentously sparked a radical movement in the past. The ability, attitude and spirit to stand at the opposite of the prejudiced, fixed, and concluded, and constantly questioning such state is our shared thoughts on what’s ‘avant-garde’. Being so, the ‘avantgarde’ spirit can not only be found within the spectrum of art, but, for example, can also be felt from watching a ,ower bloom.

현 시점의 아방가르드의 의미는 무엇이라고 생각하나?
문경원·전준호_
아방가르드 정신은 늘 현재 진행형이다. 과거의 어느 특별한 시점에서 생겨난 하나의 운동이나 태도가 아니라, 지금 늘 우리 곁에 가장 가까운 자리에 위치해야 하는 검증의 태도와 정신이다. 고정되어 있는 것, 하나로 귀결 되어진 것들의 반대에 서서 스스로와 세계에 대해 늘 질문을 던지는 것이 아방가르드 정신이자 태도라 생각한다. 그렇기 때문에 아방가르드 정신은 예술뿐 아니라 세상 모든 것에서, 이를 테면 꽃이 피는 것에서도 발견할 수 있을 것이다.
