Lecture by Mary Jane Jacob

January 24th, 2013, MOON Kyungwon and JEON Joonho had a meeting with Japanese collaborators and Mary Jane Jacob, who visited Japan for a special lecture at the University of Tokyo. MOON and JEON, together with Mary Jane Jacob, Toshi Ichiyanagi, Yusaku Imamura and Kayoko Iemura, carried out discussions about the exhibition to be held at Chicago. Moreover, they visited takram, had a brief meeting with Toyo Ito as well as participated in Mary Jane Jacob's lecture at the University of Tokyo on January 26th.
Through her lecture “Live Your Art,” Mary Jane Jacob introduced her vision on art presented in her public art and exhibition projects in Chicago. What do we learn through history? What will we show through artistic practices? Jacob presented projects of diverse perspectives containing new collaborations and practices including social relations and vision and attitude of art along with philosophical discussions of contemporary art.

2013년 1월 24일 문경원. 전준호는 동경대 특강차 일본을 방문한 메리 제인 제이콥(Mary Jane Jacob)과 일본의 협업자들과의 미팅을 가졌다. 메리제인 제이콥과 토시 이치야나기(Toshi Ichiyanagi), 이마무라(Yusaku Imamura), 이에무라(Kayoko Iemura) 와 시카고 전시에 관한 협의를 진행했다. 이 외에도 타크람(takram) 방문 및 토요이토(Toyo Ito) 선생님과의 간략한 만남의 시간을 가졌고, 1월 26일 진행된 메리 제인 제이콥의 동경대 강연에 참석했다.
메리 제인 제이콥은 ‘Live Your Art’라는 강연을 통해 그동안 진행한 시카고의 공공미술과 전시 프로젝트에서 제시한 예술의 비전과 그녀의 시각을 소개했다. 역사를 통해 무엇을 배울 것인가? 우리는 어떤 사유를 예술적 실천을 통해 보여줄 것인가? 사회적 관계, 예술의 비전과 태도 등 새로운 협업과 실천을 함유한 다양한 시각의 프로젝트와 현대 예술의 철학적 담론을 제시했다.
