MOON Kyungwon and JEON Joonho participated in the 2013 Cultural Prosperity Conference Era of Cultural Prosperity: the Future of Cultural Arts, which was held at the Global Conference Hall of the Korean Chamber of Commerce and Industry, together with CHOE Jae Chun, professor of the Division of Eco Science, Ewha Women’s University and writer of the post on ‘evolving art’ in the NEWS FROM NOWHERE project. In the conference, MOON and JEON presented their collaborative project under the title, “Beauty, the Common Ideal” and carried out interesting talks regarding the ‘definition of art, society and beauty’ with biologist and professor CHOE Jae Chun, who argues for the consilience of academia beyond the borders of knowledge.
Cultural Prosperity Conference:
The 2013 Cultural Prosperity Conference, organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism and the Arts Council Korea, was held under the theme The Era of Cultural Prosperity: the Future of Cultural Arts in order to collect varied opinions on the new administration's keynote of cultural prosperity and to spread the value of cultural arts across all areas of society.
In Part 1 'The Definition of Cultural Prosperity,' Yoo Jinryong, the Minister of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, made a keynote speech on the 'Definition of Cultural Prosperity and the Direction of Policies.' The speech was followed by lectures on the definition of cultural prosperity and its cases by Professor Jung Jin Hong of the Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology (GIST), writer Kim Young-ha, French Ambassador Jérôme Pasquier and CEO Park Myung-sung of Seensee Company.
In Part 2 'Proliferation of the Value of Cultural Prosperity,' artist duo MOON Kyungwon and JEON Joonho together with Professor CHOE Jae Chun of Ewha Women’s University shed light on the social functions and roles of art and opened a talk concert examining the potentials of convergence art in the upcoming future society. Kim Seong-Kon, the President of the Literature Translation Institute of Korea, Stever Brown a British music producer and Koh Jung-min, a professor at Hongik University each delivered a lecture respectively on the Globalization of Korean Literature, the Unity and the Healing of Society through Art, and 10 Reasons Why Art Should Be Sponsored.

2013. 5. 24 문화융성 컨퍼런스, "문화융성의 시대, 문화예술의 미래" 강연
대한 상공회의소 국제회의장에서 열린 2013년문화융성 컨퍼런스, "문화융성의 시대, 문화예술의 미래"에 이화여대 에코과학부의 교수이자 뉴스프럼노웨어 프로젝트에서 진화하는 예술에 대한 글을 써주신 최재천 교수님과 함께 참여했다. 이 번 컨퍼런스에서는 ‘아름다움, 그 공통의 지향에서’라는 제목 아래 그동안 진행해온 협력 프로젝트를 소개하며 지식의 경계를 넘나들며 학문의 통섭을 주창하는 생물학자 최재천 교수님과 함께 예술과 사회 그리고 아름다움이란 무엇인가에 대한 내용으로 다채로운 이야기를 펼쳤다.
문화융성 컨퍼런스 :
문화체육관광부와 한국문화예술위원회가 개최하는 2013 문화융성 컨퍼런스는 새 정부 국정기조인 문화융성에 대한 다양한 의견을 수렴하고, 문화예술의 가치를 사회 전 분야로 확산하기 위해 ‘문화융성의 시대, 문화예술의 미래’를 주제로 열렸다.
1부 ‘문화융성의 의미’에서는 유진룡 문화체육관광부 장관이 ‘문화융성의 의미와 정책방향’에 대해 기조연설을 하였다. 이어서 정진홍 광주과기원 교수, 소설가 김영하, 제롬 파스키에(Jérôme Pasquier) 주한 프랑스 대사, 박명성 신시컴퍼니 대표 등이 문화융성의 의미와 사례에 대해 강연했다.
2부 ‘문화융성의 가치 확산’에서는 미술가 문경원ㆍ전준호, 이화여대 최재천 교수 등이 예술의 사회적 기능과 역할을 조명하고 다가올 미래사회에서 예술의 융ㆍ복합 가능성을 탐색하는 토크 콘서트를 펼쳤다. 김성곤 한국문학번역원장, 스티브 브라운(Steve Brown) 영국 음악프로듀서, 고정민 홍익대 교수가 각각 한국문학의 세계화, 예술을 통한 사회 통합과 치유, 예술을 후원해야 하는 10가지 이유를 주제로 강연이 진행되었다.
