The production process for q0 has begun. A video work based on the “Shell Ornament with Twin Deer in Gold and Silver (a traditional Korean craftwork in the collection of Leeum, Samsung Museum of Art)," q0 is based on a fictitious plot that traces the origin and history of the ornament. Through a narrative that interweaves past, present, and future, the work deals with the cyclical and paradoxical nature of life.
Through a poetic visual with episodes of full-fledged imaginative power and reference to various discourse that freely travels across time and space, q0 will investigate the existential problems in the light of the continuous cycle of conflict in world history with the intention to invoke a philosophical introspection and self-awakening experience.
The work will premiere at Leeum Samung Museum of Art from August 28, 2014 for a special exhibition celebrating the museum’s 10th year anniversary.
This film flows like a dream.
The screen leads us to the far side of our consciousness. There, we face each other in the pure and primitive reflections before language acquisition. In a world filled with doubt, how rigid and paralyzed are our bodies and minds? Instead, in a virtual world like that one, we can, at last, have an intuitive perception of freedom.

리움미술관
리움미술관 소장품 ‘금은장 쌍록문 장식조개’를 소재로 만든 영상 작품 의 제작이 2014년 5월 25일 크랭크인으로 시작 되었다. ‘금은장 쌍록문 장식조개’의 탄생과 역사를 허구적으로 만든 이 작품은 인간 삶의 반복적이고 모순적인 세계를 과거와 현재 그리고 미래가 혼재된 윤회적 서사로 보여준다.
풍부한 상상과 다양한 담론의 에피소드들이 시공간을 넘나들며 시적 영상으로 나타나는 이 작품은 인간 실존의 문제와 세계사의 끝없는 반복과 갈등을 드러내며 우리 삶에 철학적 성찰과 자각을 불러일으킨다.
작품은 2014년 8월 28일부터 열리는 리움미술관 10주년 기념 전시에서 보여진다.
이 영상은 시간을 거슬러 흘러간다.
화면은 역사 저편 아득한 곳으로 우리를 이끈다.
그곳에서 우리는 사슬처럼 엮인 인연과 윤회의 숙명 앞에 서 있는 너와 나의 모습을 마주하게 될 것이다. 그리고 의심과 물음으로 가득 찬 이 세상 앞에 비로소 겸허히 고개를 숙일 것이다.
