Mobile AGORA with Urban Think Tank
The Mobile Agora, a collaborative project with U-TT on the occasion of the Zurich Laboratory, is a participatory project with the citizens of Zurich. The mobile agora will literally travel around the city to capture the urban landscape and citizens and conduct interviews with the people on their view of the city. The recorded document will be on view inside the exhibition space, and the Agora will act as the platform for discussing various issues throughout the exhibition period. -Mobile AGORA on the street's performance. 2015. The exhibition News from Nowhere: Zurich Laboratory, opened at the Zurich Migros Museum for Contemporary Art in Switzerland. Unlike previous exhibitions with News From Nowhere, artists Moon Kyungwon and Jeon Joonho will have a collaborative exhibition with the architecture collective, Urban Think Tank at the Swiss Federal Insitute of Technology in Zurich (ETH), and with architect and professor Gerhard Schmitt. Over the past year, Moon Kyungwon and Jeon Joonho and the Urban Think Collective have been developing a kinetic “Mobile Agora” which are reinterpretations of the Greek Agoras, which is a public square or plaza that was a place of assembly and democratic debates and discussion in ancient Greece. During the exhibition period for Mobile Agora, there will also be live performances around the city of Zurich that are open to the public, as well as video shoots and then video screenings at the exhibition. There will also be seminars and workshops conducted by the Migros Museum for Contemporary Art’s curator and programmer, in the section of the exhibition that has a mobile agora installed in the gallery. The night of the opening will also coincide with various other gallery openings and events at art centers and alternative spaces, thus over three thousand visitors are expected at the museum.
